Nickel wound guitar strings are made by winding nickel-plated steel wire around a tin-plated, high-carbon steel hex core wire. (same as plain strings, but hex-shaped). The “core-to-wrap” ratio is the combined diameters of the core wire and the wrap wire which creates the overall diameter of the string. Nickel wound guitar strings have a very balanced tonal response with sparkling highs, clear mid-range and defined bass. These guitar strings are available in many gauges as single strings and you can also build your own custom gauge nickel guitar string sets with you own perfect balanced tension.
Curt Mangan guitar strings have an overall length of 43 inches with winding to 38.5 inches. All Curt Mangan guitar strings are made with USA made wire.
This guitar string set is also available in pure nickel with hex-core.

Mangan 11-54 NW electric strings
Highly recommended. These strings sound and feel amazing. I don't normally get super excited about new strings, but these are really exceptional. Crisp lows, clear highs, outstanding balance. Great note definition and perfect tension drop tuned to C/C# on a 25.5" scale PRS SE Holcomb. I'm completely sold on these strings. Great costumer service, to boot. Thank you, Mangan and Co.!
Locked in feel & tone
Very nice set of strings for longer scale guitars. The low end is focused while the high end remains jangly. Identical in gauge to a certain other string company's but with two major differences: 1) no gimmicky arachnids and 2) much better quality. I typically play in standard tuning, but will switch over to DADGAD on occasion and these strings handle the drop tuning very well. Another fine Mangan product!
Great Strings
Awesome quality strings, my first experience with Curt Mangan. the 3rd string in this set is a little bit thicker than my preference, but i'm still dialing in my gauges - maybe ill go for a curt mangan custom set next!
