What guitar strings should I use? Maybe Monel?
Curt Mangan just installed a set of Monel 12-53 hex core on a Collings D1 and really like this combination. Monel is 67% pure nickel, 30% copper and a 3% mixture of other materials that make it Monel. It's been said that Monel has a unique, earthy tonal characteristic that seems to bring out more of the sound of the wood. Monel is also naturally resistant to salt water (sweat). It's used on drive shafts and propellers on ocean vessels, aviation parts, high-end trumpet valves and GUITAR STRINGS! It’s great for players needing some help with tarnish and corrosion.
