I use these on my 8 string guitars tuned to drop F. I like having the thinner gauge for my highest 6 strings due to them already having more tension with the F tuning(half step above standard) and the low strings still have enough mass to sound full. I really love this brand of strings and I’m most impressed by the selection of gauges they offer in ready to order sets. No more mix and matching sets and gauges. Great product!!!!

Since the 27" scale and 8 strings was a new tonal palette to me, I started from square one, trying different brands and gauges. Most turned out to have either floppy B-string tension, higher strings too stiff, either dull sounding or unmusical brightness from the type of wire, or all of the above. After research, I found this set would be the closest to equal string tension across all 8 strings. The '84 works well in standard or drop-E to deliver the fundamental frequency. I use Mangan pure nickel on some of my 6's so I knew these would be good, but these exceeded my expectations. Deep and articulate at the same time, without being harsh.

I bought these strings to get a little more tension on the low F# which I often tune down to an E. And the 84 is absolutely what I needed. I have a 27" scale and the tension is just perfect. The 64 for the B is great as well as I have the freedom to drop the B to an A as well which helps keep my options open. The windings on these strings are smaller, and tighter than the windings on the White Super Slinky 8 string set, which gives a sharper clearer tonal color on the low strings as well as a more defined attack. The only complaint that I have is that the 84 does not taper at all. It was simply too large to fit through my Sperzel tuning peg. Personally I am not a fan of defacing my equipment in any way so drilling out the tuning peg was not an option. But since the 84 is double wound, it was easy enough to unwind one layer as far down as I needed and then just feed it through that way. Overall these strings give me the tone and playability tension wise that I was looking for. Will likely not buy anything else!

Well thought out string sets for 8 string guitars are difficult to come by, but you guys have knocked it out of the park with this set. I currently have these strings tuned to drop E on a 26.5" Schecter C8 Hellraiser Special and the guitar has never felt or sounded so good. Thank you.

I use these for my Carvin DC800. I had to unwind the low B string to fit the Sperzel locking tuners, but otherwise had no problem. The improvement in the low end is significant over the stock Elixir strings that come on this instrument.
