Nickel-Plated Steel wound strings were introduced in the late Sixties and have become the most popular alloy for electric guitars and bass. Nickel-plated steel tends to offer the most balanced tone.

Nickel Wound strings are created by wrapping Nickel-Plated Steel alloys around a hex-shaped core wire which is made from tin-plated high-carbon steel (same as plain strings, but hex-shaped). The core-to-wrap ratio is the combined diameters of the core wire and the wrap wire which creates the overall diameter of the string.

I love the pick response I get from these just as well as the amazing tone. A friend of mine turned me onto Curt Mangans a few years ago and I haven't been as satisfied with any other brand as I have been with these. I also love that they're made in the USA

After much thought, and joining a new band I decided to switch down from 10-52 to 9-46 on all of my guitars. I haven't played 9's since the 90's, I didn't know what to expect. I have been using Curt's strings now for 3 years, I don't know why I even thought there would be a chance i would be let down. I LOVE THESE STRINGS!!! A joy to play, smooth, and FULL of tone!!

I have been using CM Strings now for about 4 years, after a friend introduced me to them. I am now trying a lighter set for my thinner neck, tremolo equipped guitars. I absolutely love them, they last longer, beautiful tone, and I love the way they feel.

Very good strings, they remind me of the '70-'80 strings, More definition and warmth.

Balanced tone, good intonation, better than average life. Nice variety of gauges. I also like the 10-48 set.

Having been a 25+ year user of another top brand, I switched to these (and the 10-46 gauge) on all my guitars. I tried these after I found out a local store carries them. After trying a couple of sets, I was convinced. It was difficult to switch after using the other brand for so long, but these strings are the best I've used. They sound and feel better, stay in tune better and longer, and last longer than any other string I've tried, including my previous favorite brand. I will continue to use these and I will promote Curt Mangan Strings to all my fellow guitar playing friends. If you want great strings, look no further.

Well Curt, I got another person hooked on your strings. I bought 8 sets, 4 for our singer/rhythm guitarist and 4 for me. 4 sets of 10s and 4 sets of 9s. He was just as impressed as I was. We're going into the studio in early December and you can bet we'll both have fresh sets of Mangans on ready to rock!
