the best 8s
I've played though a few 8 gauge sets from the main brands Daddarios regular and NYLX and Ernie Ball. I felt the Daddarios have the brightest tone and also the most slack, sloppy feeling. I find Ernie balls a bit warmer and fuller, maybe some would call dull. Also more balanced tension wise across the strings. I've always heard great things about curts before and decided to try em out. Overall I'm impressed, they exhibit a good bright , yet fuller tone, and feel great. They feel maybe tighter than Ernie ball very slight, very balanced across strings Very loud acoustically, perhaps louder than than Daddarios NYLX, plugged and unplugged. The intonation is rock solid too. Overall I'm happy, great strings! These are used on a Carvin HH1 25.5" guitar tuned at standard, plays various styles, but mainly jazz and fusion.
